What are your favourite Golf Clubs in Beijing?
I usually play Huatang International , Beijing Grand Canal and Beijing Golf Club . Huatang and Grand Canal are east of Beijing and the traffic is better. Beijing Golf Club is a lovely quiet spot with great greens, but a little farther out.

DO'S AND DON'TS ABOUT PLAYING GOLF IN BEIJING_
I've played enough around Beijing to have a few tips I'd like to pass on...
DO...Take a change of clothes, socks and underwear - the facilities are usually good and you'll need a shower after you have played.
DO...Wear a polo shirt and sensible golfing trousers - dress codes will be enforced dispassionately.
DO...Tip the caddy Rmb 100 on the 18th tee . Give them a good rating at the end of the round, even if they aren't very good. You have no idea how tough things are for them.
DO...Get a car and driver for the day.
DO...Expect to pay a startling amount for your golf balls at the club.
DO...Make sure you know how much the round will cost before you turn up at the club - prices change regularly.
DON"T...Lose any tags, numbers, keys or cards the course might hand you. They are all part of a system that simply must be followed...
DON"T...expect any English to be spoken
DON"T...be upset if your caddy doesn't know much about golf
DON"T...expect a taxi driver to know they way to the golf course
DON"T...expect a taxi to be found to get you home
DON"T...organise anything else that day. Golf in Beijing always takes longer than you expect.
WHO AM I?_
I am a New Zealand expat who came to Beijing with a Diplomat and 3 kids. With the Ayi's looking after the kids I had the chance to improve my swing and try some of the fabulous new golf courses around Beijing.

BUYING GOLF CLUBS AND EQUIPMENT IN BEIJING_
China has a luxury tax on golf equipment so it is not the place to buy cheap golf clubs, unless you are prepared to buy "fake". I've made a map of the places I'm happy to buy equipment. It is hardly exhaustive but I am happy to recommend.
BUYING FAKES_
In my experience the fake irons, hybrids, flop wedges and fairway woods are fine, while the putters and driver are rubbish.
There are 3 tiers for the fake golf clubs: Rmb 900, RMB 1600 and Rmb 3000. You get what you pay for...
I've heard stories about clubs heads flying off on impact, but I've never seen it.
Flop wedges are usually Rmb 150 each. Hybrids are Rmb 150 to 300.
Americans should be wary of trying to get fakes back to US. Border Control are very strict.
